 “I
began my career in private practice, then moved
to the legal departments of Barclays Bank followed by Avon
Cosmetics. Looking for a new challenge, I went on to set up the
Charity Departments for two large legal firms. Finally, in 2005
I set up my own consultancy and as a non practicing solicitor use my skills to put something ‘back’.
“That said, the operational and management experience I gained
in large organisations has been invaluable. It’s taught me about
getting the basics right when choosing the correct structure for
your organisation – because if you get your structure right, you
increase your efficiency, avoid extravagant mistakes, ease
funding pressures and reduce insurance costs. And we all want
that. “But I’ve also
discovered a passion for demystifying legalese. At CHAPPELL
